I'm Back!!! Its been a while hasn't it? I was away for most of January and Christmas was pretty busy so I haven't been able to update till now! Sorry -_-

Anyways, on to the point of this post. My old leopard print makeup bag needed to retire. It was old, dirty and had holes in the corners. I bought a new makeup bag while I was in HK. Its by San-X Sentimental Circus. I love how it has two compartments and half of it is waterproof. The pocket in front is used for a mirror, comb and gloss while the back pocket I have my eyelash curler, blush, mascara and eye shadow.

Did You Ever Stop and Notice?

"In Washington, DC, at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

After about 3 minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule.

About 4 minutes later:
The violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

At 6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

At 10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent – without exception – forced their children to move on quickly.

At 45 minutes: The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while.

About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

After 1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed and no one applauded. There was no recognition at all.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before, Joshua Bell sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 each to sit and listen to him play the same music.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. Metro Station, was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.

This experiment raised several questions:

*In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
*If so, do we stop to appreciate it?
*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made — How many other things are we missing as we rush through life??"

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter

I saw these at Walmart over the weekend! I was so excited because I didn't expect Canada to get them so fast! Were usually decades behind :(!

The lip butters feel super moisturizing! I'm loving "Berry Smoothie", its a berry pink color which comes off like your lips, but better!

I don't think I could pick just one makeup brand. I love trying all types of different makeup from drugstore to high end. I do love Illamasqua for their cream blushes, Maybelline and Lancome for their eye shadows, L'oreal for their liquid liner and mascara.

Again, I can't pick my favorite as I dont only shop at one store. But if I had to... it would be Club Monaco and Zara.

My Beauty Diary Sake Yeast Mask

My skin has the winter blues! It's been very dull and lacking a certain glow. However, I shouldn't fully blame winter for my dull skin. It's probably due to my late nights and lack of exercise. I decided to use the Sake Yeast Mask to give my skin a little bit more radiance.

Here is what Sasa.com claims:
"My Beauty Diary Sake Yeast Mask is enriched with Sake Yeast Extract, which works to boost metabolism and skin renewal by increasing temperature of skin surface. Collagen, the principal element for cuticle renewal, is added to provide skin with necessary nutrients.

Cactus extract containing Flavonoids, Polysaccharides and amino acid helps hydrating skin, while Grapefruit Extract controls sebum secretion, and Algae Extract helps improving metabolism.

For all skin types. For sensitive skin, please undergo dermatological test before use.

How to use it
Place mask on cleansed and toned face. Leave on for 20-30 minutes and then peel off. Gently massage until all remaining beauty lotion is absorbed".

What do I think?

This mask smells like alcohol (sake or vodka). The mask out of the package wasn't too juicy, like FaceQ Masks. After removing the mask, my skin felt soft and a bit brighter as the package claims. My acne scars still are visible, but I wasn't expecting miracles. I'm unsure about controlling sebum secretions or improving metabolism, but my skin feels refreshed after.

I think this mask is good for hydrating and brightening. My skin feels very fresh after.

My Beauty Diary Natto Rejuvenating Mask

As the weather changed, so did my skin. I am starting to get small dry patches around my nose and some parts of my cheek. So, I decided to use the Natto Rejuvenating Mask last night to give my skin a little boost.

Natto is fermented soy beans. Here is what Sasa.com claims:
"My Beauty Diary Natto Mask is enriched with Natto extract, which contains Isoflavones to prevent formation of free radicals, reducing the appearance of all signs of aging, such as wrinkles, slacking etc.

It also contains r-PGA which not only forms a moisture film on skin to prevent moisture loss, but also permeates into skin to boost NMF (Natural Moisture Factor). Bio-active Silanols and Algae Extract work to restore radiance and elasticity.

For all skin types, particularly for dull, dry, loose skin.

How to use it

What do I think?

I can't quite define the smell of this mask, but its not strong nor disturbing. It's mild, and I believe most people would not be offended by the smell. After the mask, my skin felt soft and hydrated, but no brightening nor lifting effects as the package claims. My dry patches around the nose still exist, but my face does not feel as tight as pre-mask.

I think this mask is not bad for hydrating. However, I don't believe it does anything else for the skin.

Apparently Korean Kimchi is one of the healthiest foods on the planet. It helps eliminate cholesterol and promotes intestinal health. It has garlic and chili peppers which has loads of vitamin C or helps preserve Vitamin C which will help keep your skin and hair nice and healthy. It has other great benefits such as regulating blood sugars, clearing out our pores, keeps us thin and boosts our energy! So its a good thing I love kimchi!

Heres a quick and easy kimchi fried rice recipe. Hope you like it!
Ingredients:

Rice from the night before (because its not as moist)
Kimchi
Kimchi juice
1 egg

How to:

Fry your egg first
Microwave your left over rice
Heat your pan to high heat
Add a small amount of oil
Add your rice to your pan
Chop your kimchi into small pieces
Add kimchi into middle of pan
Turn down heat to medium
Add your kimchi juice
Fry together until every piece of rice is fully saturated with kimchi juice
Fry until rice is almost dry
Plate and add egg

Enjoy!

If you read my posts from previous years, you know I want to be a farmer... however, I dont have a very green thumb. Before this year, everything I touched, basically died on me! But not this year! :)!

Here are some sweet peas L started for me in spring :)!

and my strawberry plant this year produced more than 3 starwberries the summer! It grew like 10! haha its not much of an improvement but I'm still a better farmer :)!

Too bad summer is over where I live. I'll have to wait till next year to grow more!

"I'm going to be a widow"

After a long shift at work, I usually leave all the stress and emotions as soon as I walk out the front door. However, today, I found it quite difficult to do so. I could not stop thinking of the hour I spent crying with a family I just met. The patient just told his wife and three children that he was diagnosed with cancer and had 6 months to live. This was the first time I experienced the shock a family encounters the first time hearing such tragic news. The cries and screams seemed louder than they actually were. The phrase "I'm going to be a widow" still echo in my head. What do I say to this family? I had nothing to say. All I could do was lend my shoulder, a comforting hand, listened and answered any questions they had. After such an experience, does one get better at comforting someone on such issues? or will one slowly get desensitized to life and death as many have working in a hospital? There is really no point to this post, I just wanted to share my experience at work today.

Hope you had a better day than me.

Mini Revlon Nail Lacquer

I found these mini Relvon nail enamel sets at Walmart for about $5 per 3 mini bottles.

I went to Walmart hunting for a light baby blue nail polish and found this! I have been obsessed with bright summer colors and these satisfy my cravings!

Each mini bottle is 0.25 fl ox/.75ml which is about half the regular bottles. Not a bad price considering a regular sized bottle costs about $4.

I love this OOTD! Especially the dress! I found this amazing "Backstage Pass" dress at Roxy about two weeks ago and fell in love with it! It has bow tie in the front with a small peep-a-boo hole for a little interest and flare. I paired with with a simple black cardigan from Club Monaco, BCBG generation sandals and a white leather Micheal Kors tote (not shown).

Chocolate chip oatmeal cranberry cookies!

I whipped these cookies up the other day for a work potluck. I'm a pretty horrible baker and I can pull these off!

What you need:
1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar (I would recommend 1/4 cup if you do not like your cookies too sweet)

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup flour

1 cup oatmeal

1 tsp baking soda

1 cup dried cranberries/raisins

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup coconut (optional)

How to:

1. In a medium bowl combine your flour and baking soda

2. In a large bowl, cream your butter and brown sugar until fluffy

3. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix together

4. Slowly add your flour mixture into the large bowl

5. Add oatmeal and mix

6. Fold in chocolate chips, cranberries and coconut

7. Bake at 350 degrees Celsius for 8-10 minutes

8. Enjoy!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure "Yellow Kitty" is a pastel yellow with a cream finish. There is no glitter or shimmer and the color reminds me of butter or corn. I bought it at Superstore (Loblaws) for 6$. Not cheap for a drugstore nail polish but I love the color. It makes me happy and adds a pop of color into my boring neutral palette!

The formula is a tad streaky, I used 3 coats with no top coat in the picture. It starts to chip on the 4th day of wear without a top coat.

Muhaha! If you read my other posts, you probably know I love to find deals!

Yesterday, I found this Mesh Panel Cardigan for $14.99!! Its a simple black summer cardigan that has a mesh at the shoulders so its a bit sexy :P!

Gap Mesh Panel Cardigan for $14.99, heres the link online, but for some odd reason online its $41.96 and not $14.99? So definitely check it out in stores if your interested. It also comes in purple.

The second great deal are my pony hair leopard flats from Banana Republic for $30! Originally on sale for $50 minus 40% off sale items!

They are to replace my old Steve Madden pony hair leopard flats which were at least $50 when I bought them a couple years ago!

I can't find them on the Banana Republic website, but you can check them out in stores! They are called "Sammie" flats!

I got a sample of the Kose White Milky Wash. I have never used any products from Kose before so this was my first product from them. I got about 3 washes from the sample I received.

Price: $6.50 for 20mls

What they claim:

"Kose Medicated SEKKISEI White Milky Wash is a rich and nourishing cleanser that produces rich and fine foam. It effectively removes aged cuticles and impurities causing dull skin. After cleansing, skin looks watery and translucent. What’s more, it allows better absorption of later skin care products for an optimal result. Mild, comfortable and light sensation is brought, even to sensitive and delicate skin.

How to use it:

Pump 1-2 times to get a proper amount of White Milky Wash onto palm. Add drops of water and work into lather. Massage over face and then rinse off thoroughly.

What it looks like:

Its a milky white liquid in the consistency of a lotion

What I think:

Good things:

1. It removes makeup pretty well.

2. My skin feels quite moisturized after use

OK things:

The scent was a little strong for me but I wouldn't consider it offensive

Bad things:

I only have one bad thing to say about this product, and it was probably my fault. I accidentally got this in my eye, and it stung like a BIT*H!!

Things I didn't see:

I didn't see any "translucent" skin after using it, but again I used it 3 times.

My skin didnt seem to absorb other skin care products better

Overally, not a bad cleanser, but again Im basing that on my 3 usages.

Anyone else tried this or anything from this brand?

Rimmel Lash Accelerator with Grow Lash Complex Review

I bought this mascara after hearing some YouTubers rave about the lengthening properties of it. It retails for about $7-10 at drugstores.

Heres what Rimmel claims:
Lashes appear up to 117% longer in 30 days
Lashes appear up to 80% long instantly

Advanced, ultra-lengthening formula for beautifully long, remarkably strong lashes

exclusive natural grow-lash complex with Procapil extends and fortifies lashes
with continued use, lashes not only look longer, but also lusher and more numerous

I have been using this mascara almost everyday for probably a month now and I don't see this "grow-lash complex" working as they didn't lengthen my lashes. However, the formula of the mascara is pretty good for lengthening and a little bit of volumizing.

The brush is a very thin long brush with quite tough bristles, which kind of hurt if you accidentally poke your eye :( However, the small brush is very good to get the corner and bottom lashes.

The formula is quite wet, but not clumpy. It also doesn't give your those spider lashes if you put on a ton of coats.

Overall: The effect is not bad, I get quite lengthy lashes without the spidery effect and a bit of volume with about 3-4 coats.

I went shopping for groceries at Superstore over the weekend and found some great deals! They had this huge bucket full of makeup for 50% off, so of course, the Asian in me had to rummage through the bucket!

I only bought what I thought were deals :P

Maybelline 8 pan palette in #10 Sunbaked Neutrals was $1.90!

Ive tried the eyeshadows and they are pretty good, the 3rd color in the top row is a little chalky but all the other one are quite smooth. They are not as smooth as the Maybelline Eyestudio palettes but I'm not complaining because I only paid $1.90 for it.

Physicians formula Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer, blush and eyeshadow in Vegas Strip and Bonus Blush in Healthy Glow for $5 = $2.50 each :D

I haven't tried the bronzer yet, but the blush does give a healthy glow, however, its staying power isnt the best. I for sure need to bring this with me for touch ups!

Homemade sushi

I had a crazy idea the other night to try making sushi for the first time at like 11pm at night. We had no idea how to even beginning, but the results ended up pretty good!
Ingredients we used:
Salmon
Shrimp
Eggs for tamago
Mirin for tamago
Cucumbers
Avocado
Capelin roe
Wasabi
Soy Sauce
Japanese Rice

We made 2 different rolls, as well as, Salmon, Tamago and Masago sushi. We didn't get diarrhea after so I count that as a success :D!

I Love Pizza. I'm always on the look out for a great pizza joints. I recently found this one with amazing crunchy, thin crust pizza. They have about 14 different types, and if none of those appeal to you, you can always create your own!

We ordered the "King of Zion" pizza with salami, mushrooms, peppers, red onion, and bacon. It was heaven! Sitting outside in the nice warm sun enjoying my delicious pizza!

Dine out is a ten day even in my city where some of the city's top chefs present three-course dining experiences.

Its a once-in-a-year opportunity to sample innovative creations at great value.

I only got the chance to try one restaurant this year as I was working the other days but it was pretty good. We went to Jacqueline Suzanne's Bistro last night.

This is really gross...but the above clear circle with the white dot in the middle was my pimple! Nexcare acne dressing is basically a Hydrocolloid dressing that absorbs secretion and promotes healing. We use them in the hospital to dress wounds and it basically sucks out everything!! Its not a cream so it doesn't dry out the skin like other products.

These are great for sucking out all the pus and impurities from those disgusting pimples helping them heal faster! I stock up in Asia every year, but you can purchase them online for $5.20 for 36 pieces.

Quite Cute

MAC has a new collection out called "Quite Cute", from the pictures it is actually "quite cute", but in real life, I wasn't really blown away from it.

I'm not a lippy girl so, I wasn't ecstatic over all the pastels in the collection, although "Playing Koi" looks like a really pretty coral (first in the picture), but its sold out online.

I swatched the mineralized blusher today, but the pigmentation was pretty horrible, they all looked like the same color... a pale pale pink that would not likely show up on my skin tone.

The nail polish was mediocre, nothing we haven't seen before, a pale purple, cotton candy pink and a mint color.

Overall, not overly impressed with the collection. Seems like MAC is just throwing all these products at us so fast that they're not even putting any effort into them.

Blinged Up Tidi Donuts

Remember my post on "Tidi Donuts"?

They are adorable donuts used for winding away messy headphone cables. They come 3 in a pack, I showed you guys the cute sprinkled chocolate donut, but the other two were a little blah for me. So i decided to bling it up!

I added multi colored crystals to the white glazed donut! I still have the pink one to dress up! But that'll probably be done next week!

On March 11, 2011, northeastern Japan was struck by one of the most powerful earthquakes in recorded history – magnitude 8.9 on the Richter scale. Thousands are feared dead and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.

Lets not just pray for these people, lets do something about it! Some of my friends and I are having a bake sale on Saturday March 19, 2011. I know some of you are in Calgary, so drop by and have a treat! Not the most glamorous meetup, but its for a great cause!

All proceeds will go to Red Cross Japan Earthquake.

Remember that polka dot dress I got from Zara!? Well here it is is in an OOTD.

I wore the polka dot dress with regular black tights and a Club Monaco cardigan I got last year. I added my usually bracelets to the outfit (haha my hand looks kinda gimped here).

I wore knee high boots (not shown in picture) and a long grey sweater jacket over top!

I always go for my browns and neutrals for an everyday look, but while I was cleaning out my drawers I found I had some pinks in my palettes that I have barely touched. So i decided to make use of them for my dinner last night.

What I used on the eyes:

Benefit High Beam

Eye Studio by Maybelline Cream Shadow 20 Purple Possibilities

Esprique Precious T-3 palette

Lancome Makeover

Lancome Backstage Pass

Lancome Exibition

L'oreal Carbon Black liquid liner

Lancome black coffee kohl

Rimmel Lash Accelerator

How to:

I used Benefit High beam as a base

Using the light purple cream shadow in the Maybelline palette, apply to lid

Using a light pink (I used the pink in the Esprique T3 palette) apply to the front half of the lid

Using a fluffy brush, apply Lancome "Makeover" to the outer V

Using the same brush apply Lancome "Backstage pass" lightly over Lancome "Makeover"

Use Lancome "Exibition" to blend in harsh lines at the outer corner

Blend Lancome "Backstage pass" to the lash line

Apply liquid liner

Apply Lancome "Backstage pass" to the lower lash line at a downwards angle. This creates the illusion of more lashes

Apply the light pink to the corners of your eye

Apply Lancome "Black coffee" kohl to upper waterline

Apply several coats of mascara to top and bottom lashes

Finished! Hope you like it!

I'm in love with polka dots so when I saw this cute little dress on the sale rack at Zara I grabbed it right away! It was such a steal at 20$!

It has a elastic band at the waist so I can adjust it so its high waist or low waist. It also allows me to make the dress longer or shorter, depending on my mood and occasion. It also has a cute bow detail at the front which I love!

My headphone cables always get tangled so when my friend blogged about these "Tidi donuts" at Chapters/Indigo for 5$ I ran to my closest Indigo and grabbed my own!

Easter Eggs!

Easter is about a month away and stores are filled with chocolate easter eggs already! I'm in love with bueno chocolate bars so I was ecstatic when I saw BUENO EGGS!! They basically taste the same as the bars, but theres more hazelnut chocolate inside and they tend to be a bit sweeter! I can only eat one or two at a time as they get tooo sweet for me.

When I first saw the previews for "Rango" I was really excited to see it for several reasons. One, its a cartoon and I love cartoons! Two, it has Johnny Depp in it! So I thought it had to be good! A couple days ago, we finally watched it and honestly, I was very disappointed! It did not live up to the hype that it received. It was rather boring and the story line was quite blah. There was no WOW factor at all. Much of the jokes were not even funny and if the film didn't have any big names like Depp and Fisher, it probably would have gone to the cheap theater really fast!

Not worth spending your 10$ on! Wait for the dvd, or just download it.

My good friend went on a business trip to Houston and she got me the best tshirt ever! We got the same one last year and we loved it! Thank you SO!! :D

Its just a simple black t-shirt from Loft by Ann Taylor but it is sooo comfortable! It makes everyone look super skinny and its the softest fabric ever! AND! its not even expensive! They're about $12.50 each which is really good because its such great quality!

This is so great because if I cant think of what to wear, I just put one of these on top of a pair of shorts or skinnies!

My Weekend

I worked 9 days straight last week so I thought I needed a great weekend to make up for it! We started with a delicious breakfast from Overeasy.

My code name is "Winnie" and of course L was the "Pooh"! hahha but everyone was soo shocked I came out 2nd! Actually I was too since all I do in there is scream and run! :P! But its soo fun!

After laser tag we just hung out at a friends place! It was one of the best weekends Ive had for a while!

I'm in love with the first two colors in the Chanel Ombres Perlees palette. I used it with the brown in the LM shimmer bloc and lined my eyes with black liquid liner. I then topped it off with layers of Rimmels mascara.

How to:

Prime your lid, I just used a bit of bb cream

I used the first color from the Chanel palette, a white pearl, on the inner half of the lid

Then I used the 2nd color from the Chanel palette, a peach gold, on the outter half of the lid, focusing mainly on the bone the pops out

Use the brown in the LM shimmer bloc on the top and bottom lash line

Using the L'oreal liquid liner, line your lash line

Use the same LM brown and blend in the harsh liquid liner

Using Lancome "black coffee" tight line the top lash line

Using the NYX jumbo liner in "french fries" line your bottom water line

Layer on your mascara

I've been craving a new wallet for a long time... like 2 years! I've looked all over the world for one that I like within my budget, but no luck until today! I was at Coach and I found one that I really like. I'm not usually a big fan of Coach because EVERYONE carries one but I went in because they had winter accessories for 70% off!

Anyways! I picked up this really cute patent black wallet with a pink inside for 40$! I usually like smaller wallets but this one was just too cute to pass up!

I think this will control my craving for at least another couple months :D

If you follow my posts, you probably know I am a Hello Kitty fan! I've been eyeing this polaroid camera since it came out last year! It is soo cute and Polaroids are so amazing. Except its quite pricey, $250 on amazon plus Ill probably waste a ton of film, which by the way also has HK printed on it!

I thought of just getting the original one for like 70$ and stick my own HK on it! A little ghetto... but its like 3x cheaper! haha what do you guys think?

I had this old MAC Disney lip conditioner but its no longer cute because the Disney character came off after I threw it around in my bag a bijillion times.

I saw these at McDonalds before Christmas but they were all sold out...well the ones I wanted (eg. Hello Kitty, My Melody). The only one I could get my hands on was Chococat, which I still loved because It matches most of my wardrobe but I really wanted HK!

So I asked the manager at McDs if he could sell me the display ones. He told me that he couldnt sell the display ones until the promotion was over, however, promised to save them for me. About 2 weeks after leaving my name and number, he called and gave me the WHOLE display for free! I didnt have to pay a cent for these watches! I cant believe there are still such nice people in this world!

I love all of them! :D! Did you get your hands on any?

Make your own Ice Cream Cake!

Ingredients:

1 pack of 550g Oreos (or premade oreo crumbs)

2 different favorites of 1L ice cream

Fudge

Cake ring

In a large bowl, set ice cream at room temperature till half melted

While the ice cream is melting, crush about 20 Oreos in a bag

I took the filling out of some of the Oreos to prevent it being too sweet

Add about 3-4 tablespoons of fudge into Oreo crumbs

Line your cake ring with Saran wrap and pour a thick layer of your Oreo fudge crumbs as the base

Set in freezer for about 15 minutes for it to set

Pour in first layer of ice cream

Set in freezer for about 30 minutes

Top with another layer Oreo crumbs

Set in freezer for about 15-20 minutes

Pour in your second flavor of ice cream

Set in freezer overnight or a day or two

Next day.... Decorate

I love farmers markets! They have great food and fresh produce! I have found the best frozen pizza ever at a little farmers market by my house. You buy your gluten free, whole wheat, or white pizza frozen and it takes about 15-20 minutes to bake and its ready to eat! Delicious!

I'm in the mist of cleaning and organizing my room and so far Ive been super lucky with finding great deals!
My main purpose for cleaning my room is to put away all text books and notes in storage and hopefully never see them here again!

One of the things I changed in my room was lighting. It was very dark in my room before and I always had to open the blinds for some light. Now I don't need to! I found this light on sale for $40 at Canadian Tire! I personally really like crystals so I thought this was perfect!
